Next SPONY Is on 11/17!
I know, I haven’t even gotten around to doing my notes from the last event and here I am announcing the next one. Well, it’s because with Thanksgiving and Christmas (yes, they’re both almost here!!!), the last Thursday of the month won’t work so I pushed up the dates. November will be on 11/17 and December on 12/15.
I’m sorry I didn’t write about the October event since it was a really great one. We had panelists from Nickelodeon and from EMI’s Strategic Resources (they place in film, TV and ads). A warm panel, great energy in the room, and the bar was stupendously high for the music we heard. Always my favorite combination. I love when the panelists give some sort of general comment about what they’re looking for since I hope it alleviates some of the disappointment of not having a Keeper. Even though I always ask them in advance so songwriters can pick something appropriate from their catalog, sometimes it’s easier to articulate it after they’ve heard some of the pitches. Anyway, I was pleased that they explained some of what they encounter with regard to projects on their desk, and why they had to pass on music they liked a great deal. Actually, that something we run into every single month. The panel will love music they don’t take because they know there’s nothing they can do to forward it.
Anyway, in two weeks we’ve got another event with two A&R executives, one record label, one publisher, and an independent filmmaker and music producer.
Hope to see you soon!
