2011 Success Stories

Time to share some of this year’s SPONY success stories!

I consider just writing and recording a song a success in and of itself.  And, I consider all of the new songwriting teams which formed as a result of networking and getting to know each other at the events a huge success for me and for SPONY. So, congratulations to everyone on this list, but also to all of you who have bared your heart and soul by creating music and song.  And, thank you for another year of allowing me to be part of it!

(In Alphabetical Order)

Alicia Angel has a “Hold” placed on two tracks by N’Kenge, a Berry Gordy recording artist (through her agreement with WAC Biz).  And, with writing partner Jay Max is in the contract stage with Nickelodeon to write for “Dora the Explorer” in 2012.

Bryan signed a licensing agreement with Downtown Music for 13 of his jazz instrumental compositions.  One track has already been placed in a major motion picture starring Kristen Wiig and Megan Fox.

Andrea Carlson has signed a licensing agreement with WAC Biz for multiple tracks.  In fact, that deal was signed within 24 hours of the event.

Janine de Souza had a track pitched for a major motion picture through our panelist from Rockamedia.

Amanda Droste signed an agreement for synchronization representation with Round Hill Music.  Her tracks have already been pitched for dozens of projects.

Dan Ferrari, with a whopping 19 songs licensed to MTV Networks had not only 3 placements in their programming, but the placement of the song “Pendulum” (co-written with Janice FitzGerald) included the CD artwork promoted within the show, and a “click to buy” link on MTV.com.  A video of the song by artist Tatiana Owens had more than 150,000 views on YouTube.

David Goldman signed a contract with Music Mind Tracks for a number of his songs.  He is currently in talks with WAC Biz to license a number of tracks, and he is also in talks with Nickelodeon to write for them in 2012.

Deborah Miller signed a licensing deal with WAC Biz.  Like Andrea Carlson, the turnaround was 24 hours.

Tatiana Owens had two other placements (in addition to her song “Pendulum”) in MTV shows.

Poc Silver and Steeplechase signed a 10-song licensing deal with MTV Networks, and a contract with WAC Biz for multiple tracks.

Matt Bunsen & The Burners had a track pitched for a major motion picture through our panelist from Rockamedia.

Once again, congratulations to all!

May 2012 bring you happiness and success, and may every song you write be a smash!

All the best,
Joy
