Introduction to The Sojourner

I’m afraid of the word blog.  I can’t help but ask myself, that with so many experts out there on every subject, what can I add to the mix.

But, at the same time I have over 20 years experience, having sung in my first garage band at age 14, and then shopping myself as a singer/songwriter in earnest after that. My move to LA was all in the way of trying to further my career. These many years later I suppose what I have to show is that I could be considered a “Sojourner.” I believe that a Sojourner is not just a traveler, but one who takes the knowledge gained from those visits and incorporates it into the fabric of their lives, thereby becoming the sum of those experiences.

I was always willing to try anything, and so I followed the opportunities as they opened up before me, however unexpected the road. In doing so I had amazing adventures where I finely tuned my existing talents, discovered ones I never knew I possessed, and gained the skills and abilities to make them viable.  I also met a large number of industry players and veterans, many of whom were willing to share amazing insights, wisdom and experiences and from which I benefited greatly.

Perhaps that’s the key then.  I will consider that those people I met along the way, “paid it forward,” and now I will keep it going by sharing it with whomever out there cares to listen to what I have to say.  I’ll try not to ramble or stand on a soap box.  But rather, I’ll share those insights and feelings which I believe might be of help to others who are out there baring their hearts and souls through their music, trying to break through.
